I avoided changing gears out of self-preservation but got in my longest ride yet — 5.06 miles in 30 minutes. The gurus at Halfbike.com told me how to adjust the gearing. We will see tomorrow
I managed a 9 AM start on Mr Tib and finally got in 45 miles with some hills. I did not expect wind-gusts in the high teens but things still went very well.
Nearly 2000 feet of Up
Hill-climbing on a Fixie often means Standing while Pedaling; I don’t think I’m fooling myself when I say the standing was easier after 12 days on a Halfbike.
I had planned on a good climbing say but since my Shelby Route Glass experiences I decided to alter things a bit. On 16 teeth in back I failed to climb Glen Echo road [one of my favorite climbs] but a few weeks with Arachne ought to get my legs back into shape.
A good day of mixed sprints & climbs. 984 feet of Up.
The wind was actually in the teens & the gusts in the high teens.
And then after some Breville juice o took Aurora out for 3 miles in 25 minutes with 84 feet of Up.
Mostly 2nd gear but the hill was in First gear — climbing involves large sweeping amounts of Fish-tailing. A foreign & fascinating experience
Stretched too thin today for both Aurora and Arachne so I took the Halfbike down to Village Court for 4 miles in 25 minutes. I’m getting much more control & turning without hesitation.
I can imagine 15 miles rides in the future but probably no cycling-distances. The targeted leg-work is exactly why my iffy right leg needs.
I spent the morning with a newborn which threw my riding plans into the dumpster
Aurora then Arachne
10 miles with good plateaus over 31 minutes
Just under 3 miles on Arachne. I haven’t discovered why she leans a tad left but the cause is not Rear Tire Pressures. Still efforting but the ride went well; I’m turning with more control & even with some acceleration
