Longest Arachne to date

I let the roads dry & then took the Halfbike out for 6.6 miles in 40 minutes. I spent some time in 3rd gear, learning to accommodate myself to the increased torque & swaying of the back-end. 3rd is definitely a 15 mph gear so I’m putting Arachne’s top potential speed in the mid-20s — much faster than I feel safe on her just now. I got in some good Figure-8s and ended with a 3/4ths climb up my hill.

45 Miles In Some Wind On Amabo

I took the heavy bike out because it gets blown-about less. I picked the very day that our Mayor ran the miniature bike-lane Street Sweepers [proving he reads his email albeit slowly; I’ve been complaining for a month]. It was a good strong ride but I had not eaten well so I was a little off.

Sorry the map is so cluttered. Map My Ride no longer gives you a map

The old Wednesday route; felt very natural to make the same old turns again.

Plateauing and Peaking downstairs has many benefits out there in the wind.

Over 1250 feet of Up out there on a mostly flat route.

Aurora & Arachne

Often when the Outdoor Cycling Season ends due to weather we get 10 days of great balmy days spread across 3 weeks. Today was one such day but I failed to get outside to enjoy it on a Fixie.

6.7 miles in 20 minutes with 2 strong peaks and good plateaus

I’m getting better at pushing right past the 55-60 RPM range into the 65-70s and maintaining it here for a minute.

I still sometimes reach-out for her saddle when manipulating her into position

Nothing exotic on weary legs but I’m turning much better & gaining much more control. Some good 2nd gear sprinting in the 12s — I’m pretty sure 15 mph is a 2nd gear top speed cruising but she may sprint in second close to 20, making 3rd & 4th very scary fir me right now.
