Less wind this morning than expected and although I wanted to achieve my first 40 miler in years in the end I cut it short to do some billing. I’ll find the free time later this month; Octobers are always good to me.

I got a later start than planned but there was an inviting lack of traffic up 16th so I made an irreverent loop of 16th to Eastland down 17th to Ordway then up 15th back to Eastland ack down 17th then up 16th back to the regular route. When those roads are clear of traffic the hills are excellent.

The crew took-over part of Holly and 17th to shoot a Car-Chase scene for Nashville 911. Just my luck, that’s where I Halfbike. I did however get in 10 miles before abandoning the territory & I got a cop providing security to check-out the Halfbike website.

Plus I managed to tighten the brakes a bit .
I’m trying to keep a Wednesday Date at the airport for some sprinting . I had underestimated the robustness of the wind but I still had a good time.
The mowing crew was out but I think it’s the chemical that pushes the leaves from trees that bothers my nose & not the flung shards of mown grass.

I wanted an early enough start for 15 miles this time & even tho I missed my window I made it work.
There’s a long uphill on 16th that I enjoy riding but after 8 it’s too trafficked for me.

I haven’t tried my old Friday Route in quite some time. I’m glad to say it went well. 1120 of Up (AppleWatch calculation) over 36 miles. The only obvious hill I avoided was Lilian — ironically one of my favorite park-exits. I took Electric instead.
The place was nearly empty which was strange considering the day was lovely.

My one detour on Davidson
A warm day with more wind than advertised and yet for some reason very few cyclists out there. The long weekend must have burred off all the spare energy.
I went to the Airport for some Sprint-Intervals and got fed my lunch twice at least. It’s tough out there on a Fixie in the wind.

Most of the motorists left town I guess and most of the traditional cyclists were in the park leaving the roads for one lone Halfbiker.
A bit of wind out there but the temperature was in the 80s — a vast improvement

I underestimated the Wind but had a good ride over mixed terrain with nearly 900 feet of Up to it. My favorite moment was passing a guy riding an e-bike up a challenging hill. Halfbiking has made me a better climber.

I did not leave before 6 AM so I took a less trafficked route. It was still fun tho. Golfers can be very friendly.
