Halfbiking in Lower Humidity

With pre-storm temperatures there’s a bit of wind but it felt very fine out there. I stuck to the Lower Terrace to save my legs for a later ride but once I combine both terraces the first time I suspect that will become the standard Halfbike Route.

Very few people out there this morning which was kind of surprising. The awkward detour on one path due to erosion maintenance may have something to do with it.

Halfbiking in the Humidity

It was grim out there. I did not make my 75 minutes; I made 57 minutes. It was grim indeed but worth it

I rode the Upper Terrace instead of Davidson due to the 17 mph winds. There’s more protection from homes & trees on the Upper Terrace. Unfortunately there’s often more traffic and many motorists don’t think logically when they see a guy on a Halfbike

Halfbike in falling humidity

About 9:30 is the golden hour for Halfbiking in Nashville. As the heat of the day increases the humidity falls and it feels like every breeze is your friend. I still sweat, but it’s not a desperate sweat.

Two traditional cyclists opined on the health benefits of the Halfbike; perhaps they will buy

Γλαυξ is one mile per hour faster than Jeanne

Fixie in a little wind

It was mostly the wet leaves on the corners that worried me but the wind was pretty strong which fortunately kept many cyclists away. I noticed a few new barriers along the river-slopes since the tourist died last year. Surprisingly the old closed businesses along Davidson are still for sale despite the Mayor’s Riverfront Rejuvenation efforts.

Halfbiking has made the uphills easier on the Fixie so I’ll have to find a good non-fatiguing pattern for the last half of the year.

So different from Halfbiking

Halfbike with Ice-Vest

The box said the cold lasts For Hours. 30 minutes into my ride the cold was a dim memory. Still I got my 75 minutes in and only looked like a doofus to folks equally doofusy.

I have a battery-powered cooling-vest on the way. It boasts 6 hours of battery life.

The vest hides my Spider Logo

Halfbiking in the Park

I timed the dip in humidity for 75 minutes on Jeanne. As with my AirBike downstairs [I’m aiming at 7 miles in 20 minutes] my Want is 15 miles in 75 minutes. I’m 2 miles short which sounds so simple but it means leaving the comfort of 2nd gear & greater control for 3rd gear & the loss of more skin than I’d like.

We shall see

The kids in the sandboxes enjoyed the quirkiness of the Halfbike

Halfbiking

We had low wind & low humidity so I took the Halfbike out for an hour in the park. There was a Film Crew out recording on several cameras a Cycling Team of 4 Guys and 2 Girls. They were making fast loops around the lake. completely unimpressed with the Halfbike but the kids on the jungle gyms were intrigued

Plus I dress as Spider-Man so

Halfbiking for an hour

Working on getting my legs back after the rains. Davidson was nearly empty which is fortunate because with the Cross-Wind I’m like a sail and can drift right into traffic.

I got 3 good laps with nearly no pedestrian dodging; I’m guessing they are getting used to me & move off to the right reflexively.

A fine day
