Hector and Aurora

I had a good time with Hector. I’m guessing the um Train weights close to 100 pounds so it’s probably on,y 75 but it felt good both one-legged and 2-legged. I had none of the disconcerting weakness I have while doing one-legged standing squats. So I’ll call that progress already. Tomorrow is actual leg-day so we shall see how I handle actual weight.

Aurora was easier than it has been in weeks. I did mostly sustained pedaling at 19 to 20 mph with some easy 23-24 mph 2 minute sprints. I’m hoping to get outside in April.

Things look less grim

Failed Physical Therapy & Hector

The place I’ve tried first to get my leg back in cycling-shape turned out to be patterned for Dancers. I have no animus toward dancers but I’m a Fixie Cyclist; I need something less polite. The next place promises more um robust engagement.

It took me nearly 5 hours to put Hector together & he’s still not entirely assembled. I did a few score one- & two-legged presses with just the 70 or so pounds of the unencumbered apparatus — he requires Olympic Weights [appropriately enough] & I’ve inky just started buying those — & this all feels quite rewarding.

He weighs-in at a cool 330 pounds

Assessing the Leg

I’ve finally made two appointments with professionals but my amateur take is my progress is slow but it is progress. I ordered a Leg Press to make squatting possible but till it arrives I have Aurora to build up some strength. Irks me that there are so many cycle-able days.

I did 10 miles in 30 minutes

One-Legged Pedaling

But only for a quarter-mile or so. I got in my now-regular 11 miles in 36 minutes. I guess day-to-day feelings of improvement or the opposite are impossible accurately to gauge. I’ll know in a week how what I’ve done was taken.

I actually have video of my right leg in action. Well, let’s call it Semi-Action. This will be a long haul

No Sprints. No Hills.

It’s still hard for me to stand & pedal on Aurora so I’m starting out with flat high-cadence pedaling for endurance. I rode hard for 7 miles & cooled down over 4 more. My leg did fine; I’ll poke into various nearby physical therapy joints tomorrow and Tuesday.

7 miles in just over 20 minutes & 36 minutes in all.
