Too hot out there for old men

now in the mind indestructible
Too hot out there for old men
Very decent plateaus

Legs don’t return to form as quickly as they used to. Just under 8 miles, but good plateaus.

Trying to figure out how to time tomorrow.
You actually gotta be there but near the Well Of Lycopolis entrance to Shelby Bottoms there are 4 streets which lead to the same cul-de-sac uphill endpoint [the Cherry On Top]. I have been riding those streets at 25 mile-mark of Monday rides for a few months, but never until today had I achieved 4 Cherries. The Cherry route is particularly steep on weary legs.

Overall the ride was good with good wind h even a small threat of rain.

I was elated by nearly 1600 feet of Up (even tho I was aiming for 1800) in the app but because I was tracking my progress on my Watch I knew the actual number was higher: 1921 feet.

2000 feet of Up over 31 miles has long been a goal.

A good day out there today.
It completely locked-up on me at nearly my turn-toward-home point & I ended up walking a bit like a Cyclocross Rider [fixies can’t coast] until a fellow-cyclist who’s name I never caught gave me a lift in his truck.
Just a disaster.

Watch gives great data now on the fly & tells a better story

1421 feet of Up and my exit plan would have captured 500 more feet.
Mr Tib is in the shop getting a new SRAM
They without alerting me finished the detouring part of the dig at the Fortland exit so today I made a double detour for no reason at all. Despite this it was a good tough ride & in the end my legs felt like 45 in the hills would not be impossible.

My watch lists the amount of Up as 1575 feet which was 75 more than I planned; I’m sticking with it. I figure the mapping app drops signal & undercounts while the watch drops signal & extrapolates.

Double Shelby sets a good tone. I avoided Newhall only because it’s not Friday today.
Getting more distinct plateaus

Looking forward to the final months of the season
Light but persistent drizzle kept me inside. Getting a better handle on Plateaus.

My afternoon walk got ruined by phone problems so I took Aurora out for 9.4 miles in 25 minutes.

Good for tired legs
I’m officially involved in moving my niece to her new place in Spring Hill so I avoided the regular Sunday Medium Leg-work and ride Aurora for a good 35 minutes fir 10.8 miles. About mile 5 I managed to pop-out a battery so the screen went blank on me.

You can see the plummet.
Bongino says often to include heavy cardio into otherwise relaxed workouts so I did the middle part of a regular Sunday workout u ended with swinging my belovèd Mace. Bongino is right; it’s a good way to tackle things even on short days.
Final day of a pretty good month. Today was the first time I felt like my leg/s cd handle 61 miles. Perhaps late September I’ll take a swing.

I got to race a train — but it was really just backing-up.
I’m a fan of big Diesel engines everywhere.

A good way to end the month.
