First Outside Ride In Months

I was more than cautious at the start but I handled my first steep hill well enough — Aurora one leg at a time reaps benefits — & once I found a good rhythm things went very well. I don’t think I ever went faster over a mile than 15.6 mph but I’m calling my first ride a success.

I did 3 hills in all for 586 feet of up & managed a not exhausting 22 miles.

Poco a poco. What I find most difficult is slowing the bike with my legs; ideally Fixies have no hand-brakes & I use mine as infrequently as possible, but until the right leg is 80% and above pedal-braking will be very limited.

First hour-long ride on Aurora

I hit 15.1 miles in 45 minutes & cooled-down till 19.2 at 60 minutes. An indoor hour especially on an AirBike is tougher with respect to concentration than it is outside. I can’t imagine going much farther than 20 miles inside; there’s nothing to do but pedal

It was straight pedaling with 3 sprints to break up the monotony

PT Bar None

I had good Physical Therapy today; the leg improves steadily. Even tho I start at 7 AM I find it impossible to get in the afternoon workout on PT days. Kind of frustrating. I got 14 miles in on Aurora tho — 10 of them in 29:31 which might be a Personal Best.

Indoor Ride on a Lovely Day

I’m figuring 10 more days until I try an outdoor ride. Today was beautiful.

My legs were still sore from back-to-back Physical Therapy days but I managed the regular workout in the morning & got 15.8 miles in 50 minutes in on Aurora in the afternoon. around mile 6 I got a lovely cramp in my left leg for my troubles.

A good day.

Tough day at Physical Therapy

My body-mechanic forced me to do nothing but the difficult things today so I hit Aurora for a short one — 7 miles in 20:34 of mostly straight pedaling. 10 miles total in just over 30 minutes. Looking very forward to actual cycling.

I’d like an indoor bike which hooks into MapMyRide but I’ve got what I’ve got.

Poco a poco

Aurora after Hector

A very full leg Wednesday with two early morning PTs Thursday & Friday. I got in 1.5 miles one-legged pedaling with the right and an even mile with the left. One mile reverse pedaling & half a mile standing. Those are nearly all improvements even on a short day.

Mid-April is coming on fast.
