Switched to Sprinting Gear

I had a flat on my Climbing Wheel so I just switched it out. All the work on Hector was making it mandatory anyway. Since I fell-in with many riding the Tour de Nashville — I lost count of how many I passed — the switch turned out to be a good deal. Two hills climbed only for 1085 feet of Up. The wind was rather punishing but I suspect I’ll get my firm back over time.

Trying out the Hero 10 too.

In that final clump of bikes there are 4 e-bikes

On the whole a good first effort.

Across The River

There was a Truck Rally at Me Sad Field which closed my regular loop to Car Traffic but in the end I was too irked by the awkward placement of the barriers & the increased traffic on other roads so I headed off over the bridge to do the bottom half of the old Saturday route. The grazing goats are still there but there was so much new construction that I hardly recognized the river-path.

The wind was mild and I left early enough that the humidity was low.

The leg held up well and although I was passed 4 times at the Airport, I was carrying at the time over 30 miles. I passed something like 18; it was a good day.

Hopefully the first of many

Mostly Flat

I eked 1456 feet of Up from 47 miles on one of the old Wednesday Routes. Nashville has an In-Between season when it’s only about 65° and not too windy with nearly no humidity nor pollen. it lasts about a week and today I rode it it for my longest ride so far this year. To make this even better there wasn’t an e-bike out there today that I failed to pass.

The leg never yelled at me and hell 15 mph well even in the wind. I’m pedaling better & smarter now because I must; I’m betting my old speed will return eventually.

I had thoughts of turning toward some Airport Sprints but in the end I chose to stay in the trees to hide from the wind.

A Few Hills In The Wind

We had a pre-storm windy day so I headed for the hills. I have not been near the Cooper Loop in years and was delighted to find Rose Moss as steep & foreboding as ever. Plus the lowest part of MacGavock is still a challenging delight.

I had to dodge far too many poorly-attended children tho.

I’m sad to report that just one week after our Marathon Davidson is becoming a haven again for broken glass & various metal fragments.

A good way to end a tough month

Mostly Flat

Dusted-off the old Wednesday route — minus the Airport Sprinting — to get the taste of Rained-out Monday out of my mouth. A fine windy day with few dangers of skidding out of control.

Nearly alone out there but fir the School Kids

I’m looking forward to putting on the Sprinting Gear soon

Rain Abandonment

My app did not forecast Heavy Rain but Heavy Rain is what we got. While it was Drizzle it was refreshing; then the deluge.

12 miles has got to be better than 0 miles.

Because if the steepness of the hill & the slickness of the turn I did not take my regular final climb up to my house. I wanted to but some voice told me not to try that turn. Smart voice.

Held a pretty good pace out there in all the Temps Mauvais

10 Hills

It took me till after Tax Day to get my baby out there but it was a good day. Plenty of wind & 10 hills with a new — to me — combination. When initially I got Hector for my leg-rehab I got him with days like this in mind. Leg complained not at all even tho the integration or connectivity is still not all there.

There is still much construction going on out there and the roads have taken a real beating. I may try the old Cooper Looper route some day soon.

Not my worst April effort.

Aurora on a Windy Day

We have weather coming through so I punted all my morning exercise in favor of a long walk while I could. I listen to language tapes as I walk to give myself both a physical goal or target plus an intellectual goal or lesson. Today’s was a longer listen than normal.

I got through 4 half-hour lessons in Italian French & Latin plus quite a bit of Spanish Preterites.

My Aurora ride was less than stellar due to weary legs, but that’s often the point with me. I need to get my legs ready for weary riding. 8.2 miles total in just over 25 minutes.

The new configuration of my weight-room still needs some tweaking but I believe I made the right upgrade decisions

Nearly Spring

Took advantage of a bit of warm weather today for a good 31 miler. The weather app underestimated the wind-gusts but it was a fine day out there. Many cyclists joggers skaters and amblers shooting pictures of ducks. I’m fairly certain I spotted a Kestrel at the airport, the usual hunting-ground.

I did leisurely sprinting without any Intervals.

For whatever reason there were many One-Speeders out there.

With the weight-room’s reconfiguration I have yet to ride Aurora. Soon.

Veri Viri

Got a late start after a long Bank Walk and although I formerly enjoyed the learning opportunities of Weary Leg Rides today I felt merely weary.

Still it was a fine day; I kept to one of the old patterns because of road re-surfacing.

March and you can already feel the rising humidity.

I need to set a better indoor pattern to help with my wind & sprinting.
